Hudson's 5 Months Old!

On Friday, April 20th Hudson, Mom & I picked up Grandma Judy to go to Fabulous Fridays at ECFE.  We had lots of fun playing and it was extra special with Grandma there.  After nap we went to the park to meet up with the Hansen's for some fun outside play.  Afterwards we had a relaxing night with Mom at home as Dad had boys night out!  On Sat., April 21st we had a fun day at home and the Hansen's came over for dinner.  Late Saturday night Hudson started to not feel so well and got a high fever.  By Sunday morning he wasn't feeling much better so we took him to the doctor and we unfortunately, after some tests , x-rays & hospital time, found out his pneumonia returned.  Back to meds and neb treatments with lots of cuddle time for our little guy.  Monday & Tuesday Hudson stayed home to recover and I got to have fun at daycare.  On Monday we made raindrops with blue paint & enjoyed the warm, sunshiny weather outside.  Tuesday, I got to play dress-up with rain gear and enjoyed splashing in boots!

On Wed., April 25th Hudson turned 5 months old!  He was doing much better so returned to daycare where he squealed & giggled in delight so must have been feeling better.  I found the new trucks right away in the morning, colored raindrops and even tried climbing in the baby doll crib in the afternoon.  What a fun day!

Here's what Hudson's been up to this past month:
  • Is sitting with support and can sit on his own for a second or two!
  • Getting close to rolling over from back to tummy & rolling from tummy to back more often.
  • Turns head when hears name and to familiar voices.
  • Grasps & reaches for toys/objects and brings up to mouth & face to inspect.
  • Is a happy guy and super smiley all the time.  A really pleasant demeanor.
  • Loves to stand with support and can even stand with minmual support for a couple seconds!
  • This past month has gone down to 5 feedings a day with the last around 8 p.m. and then sleeps through night until 6 - 7 a.m.  Starting to have a regular bedtime routinue of feeding, bath, storytime & prayers similiar to big brother!
  • Had first egg hunt, first Easter, first Easter Bunny visit and first trip to Ames, IA - Iowa State Unversity - this past month!
Growing up so fast!

Fun at home...

The week before Easter we got to paint and color lots of Easter eggs as part of our April units include eggs & chicks.  Our teachers even gave us cute bunnies (*washcloths twisted & tied to look like a bunny) and bubble wands.  Thank you!  Here's my colored eggs; I made the purple one for Mom as that's her favorite color.  Other April units include dirt/mud, zoo animals, rain/water, farm animals and Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme.  I'm also working on my ABC's & colors/shapes.  I now count to 10 on my own so now working on counting in "2's" and counting to 20.  Wish me luck!
At daycare on April 9th & 10th I enjoyed learning about dirt/mud by playing with trucks & tractors!  A unit I can really understand.  We also worked on eye/hand coordination with tearing paper & gluing along with practicing our letters by writing & coloring our names.  On the 11th we got to do a fire drill and practice lining up & going to our safe place.  Afterwards we even got to go on a walk!  Hudson got to experience his first fire drill too but more importantly is rolling over more (*still stomach to back) and loves looking at faces & into the mirror.  On April 12 - 14th Mom had to go to Ames for meetings so Hudson got to with & hang out with Grandma Anne.  It was his first trip to Iowa State!  I got to go to daycare and hang with Dad & Grandma Judy.  I had lots of fun playing with my new train set and of course with trucks & tractors!
It was fun to have everyone together again on Saturday and on Sun., April 15th after church Mom & I put Hudson's (*formally mine) saucer together.  He wasn't quite sure what to think as so much to look at.  He seems to enjoy the dragonfly the most as kept smiling at it & kept trying to eat it!
We had fun playing "roll over" with Hudson Sunday night; here's us men!
Bath time for Hudson!  He's more interactive in the tub and always gets the giggles just before bed each night.  Happy little guy!

On Monday, April 16th we returned to daycare and Hudson returned to the chiropractor. He got another adjustment, although minor, and we think everything has been helping his movements as he's becoming more regular. We go back on the 30th so we'll see! At daycare on the 16th I enjoyed playing basketball! I even made it through the yellow hoop a couple of times. On the 17th for our zoo animal unit I got to dress up like a zoo keeper! We even got to pull animals out of a bag & come up with their sounds. I enjoyed the tiger & lion the best although I can now do great seal, wolf & gorilla impressions too! Today, April 19t we go to pick a zoo animal to learn about & color.  I picked a turtle; pretty cute huh?!
Tomorrow we're going to ECFE for Fabulous Friday & we're taking Grandma Judy! Can't wait for a fun weekend; hopefully the rain clears up soon so we can enjoy it outside. Happy weekend all!

Happy Easter!

On Sat., April 7th we got to attend my first official egg hunt!  We met Grandma & Grandpa Vogel and Uncle Adam & Aunt Audra at the Jesup, IA golf course where our Great Aunt Rayann lead the big event.  There were over 400 kids signed up, over $1,200.00 in cash hidden in the thousands of eggs (*or trinkets and candy were hidden too), and the best part it was done by age so we actually had a chance!  At 10:00 a.m. they called on the hunt and it was a mad scramble to the eggs.  Here's Grandma Dawn and I all ready to go!
Everyone was proud of how well I did finding eggs, playing well with the other kids and how full I got our baskets.  Dad tried teaching me "the elbow" but I didn't need to use it!  My favorite color of eggs to find were green and I'd skip over eggs if they weren't green sometimes!  Although, I didn't find any eggs with money in them I was very excited for the little compass prize I got in one of them not to mention the Tootsie Rolls too!
By the time we were done I filled two whole buckets!  Here's Grandpa Mark, Hudson, Dad & I.
After the egg hunt we got to visit Great Uncle Rock & Great Aunt Rayann's farm (*to see the tractors of course) and then had an awesome lunch and nap.  After a big nap we got to the park with all the "guys" and got to test out our new wrestling mat by practicing some moves.  Here's Hudson &; I all tuckered out from our big day - notice our shirts say "Egg Hunt Champs"!
After a good dinner we got ready to go to bed so the Easter bunny could come.  I got to wear my new fire truck PJ's and Hudson got to wear his first Easter PJ's.  Here we are excited for the Bunny!
Such a cute little "bunny"; the back of his PJ's even have a tail!
On Easter Sunday, April 8th, we were blessed with lots of Easter baskets & goodies.  After breakfast we went to Grandma & Grandpa Sergeant's house for an Easter lunch.  After lunch Uncle Byron had hid eggs for me to find so I got to do another egg hunt!  Aunt Connie & Grandma Anne helped me search.  I found so many eggs I had to unload my basket several times to get them all!
We had a special treat as Great, Great Grandma Dolores and Great, Great Aunt Janette were with us so Hudson got to do a 5 generations picture including Great Grandma Shirley, Grandma Anne, Mom & him.  So special to have all generations present.
We had a very fun afternoon with family and the beautiful weather outside.  When we got home we had another special treat waiting for us; our Easter baskets the Easter Bunny left for us.  Hudson got his first Easter basket (*the blue one) that had cereal & a John Deere bib, building blocks, a movie and Sophie the giraffe teething toy.  I was so excited for wooden train set & Gordon the train.  I also got some fun Easter snacks, a movie, socks and a Cars freebie I can't wait to use outside.
We had such a blessed Easter; especially for Hudson's first.  Hope you had a very Happy Easter too!

Family Fun!

On Sat., March 31st Uncle Jared & Aunt Ashley came to see us from Sioux Falls!  We surprised them by letting Grandma & Grandpa Sergeant know so they came too.  We had a fun filled morning & early afternoon of playing, eating and just hanging out.  I had a great time and was very bummed to find out all had gone when I got up from nap.
Here's some pictures from our fun day together:
Aunt Ashley, Uncle Jared, Hudson & me.
Here's Hudson being brought to the dark side by wearing Uncle Jared's hat - team will not be disclosed!
Grandpa, Grandma & two handsome grandsons!

On Sun., April 1st we went to Grandma & Grandpa Prestegard's new home to celebrate Easter after church.  Before lunch Grandpa Allen took me on an egg hunt and I got to find a bunch of candy filled eggs!
Here we are on the hunt...
After the hunt we ate an awesome lunch and got to open Easter presents!  I helped Hudson open his.  I got a really cool Cars book and light up pen and Hudson got a fun farm book.  Thanks Grandma & Grandpa!
The best part was Great Grandpa & Grandma Prestegard joined us for lunch too.  Here's Grandma Alice with Hudson getting some extra love.  We also got to tour the new home and it's beautiful.  So blessed to have such a wonderful place to visit.
After nap on Sunday afternoon Mom, Dad & I colored Easter eggs.  I had a lot of fun this year getting to stir the dye, picking & saying the colors, and placing them all by myself.  Here's Dad showing me how to do my first one.
My favorite color is blue so we did a couple of blue eggs but I loved playing with all colors.
Here's our finished eggs; notice some we tried doing a marble technique.  Can't wait for the Easter Bunny to see them!
On Monday, April 2nd I had a lot of fun painting my own Easter egg and learning about eggs, spring & Easter.  Here's my masterpiece:

On Tues., April 3rd Hudson & I took some Easter treats to our teachers & had another day of painting, this time with strings, & learning about spring.  Hudson had fun playing with his jungle gym & smiling in the mirrors.  I got to leave daycare early to have a play date with my cousin Hannah!  Hudson & Mom came later to say hello too.  Here's Hannah & Hudson; we love her sooo much!
On Thurs., April 5th we continued our fun craft week and made eggs by cutting up chalk.  Very cool and very messy.  Today, Fri., April 6th Hudson had a chiropractor appointment to help with his digestive system (*had some trouble since in the hospital) and his adjustment went really well.  Dad got adjusted too and I had fun watching and learning all about it.  Can't wait for the weekend to begin as we're heading to Iowa for Easter.  Hope you & yours has a blessed Easter too.
